B&C was born way back in 1986 from the brilliant, and slightly crazy, idea of two youth friends, Vittorio Clemente and Bogaro Edi. The two had set their sights on creating something that would not only help them pay for their studies – conservatory and law for Vittorio, and medicine for Edi – but that would also leave an indelible mark on the world. An ambitious mission to say the least for two guys with just a few pennies in their pockets and lots of dreams in their heads.
Vittorio, always fascinated by art and craftsmanship, spent his days in his uncle's luthier's workshop, officially to "learn", but often also to snoop around and "steal" some secrets of the trade. It was there that he discovered the pleasure of a job well done and the incredible magic of transforming a simple piece of wood into an instrument capable of enchanting the world.
With a violin in one hand and a jar of glue in the other, Vittorio began to put into practice what he had learned, offering bow maintenance and small repairs to his fellow students at the conservatory. Word of mouth was quick to arrive: word of the “string wizard” quickly spread among students and teachers, and Vittorio soon found himself with more work than free time.
From that idea, born between bad coffees and late-night laughter, and from the passion of the two friends, the B&C world was born, now known and established throughout the planet. Who would have ever said that a dream born between a conservatory classroom and a medical school would have achieved such a resounding success? And yet, here we are, with Vittorio and Edi who look at their journey with a sly smile and a pinch of pride.
